In Dwell Magazine’s unending supply of great things, they included a small article on Ubu Web. A massive collection of, well, things. I feel it’s best you just go see for yourself rather than explain what is there.
One thing I did happen upon is ‘Ten Commandments for Gilbert & George 1995’:
Ten Commandments for Gilbert and George
Thou shalt fight conformism
Thou shalt be the messenger of freedoms
Thou shalt make use of sex
Thou shalt reinvent life
Thou shalt create artificial art
Thou shalt have a sense of purpose
Thou shalt not know exactly what thou dost, but thou shalt do it
Thou shalt give thy love
Thou shalt grab the soul
Thou shalt give something back
Watch it. This is brilliant. I especially enjoy ‘Thou shalt give something back’ because yes, you should.
Went to IKEA this weekend and finally bought myself the ‘Dave’ laptop stand. It’s fairly nice, thought slightly wobbly, which is unfortunate.
I think it will help my back though. The kitchen table just isn’t the best to sit at with my powerbook.
Yay! It looks like MOCA is having another exhibit that is sure to amaze.
(The Dwell House by Resolution: 4 Architecture)
SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED:
CONTEMPORARY PREFABRICATED HOUSES
“Organized by the Walker Art Center, the exhibition features eight modern modular house projects that have recently been realized.”
I so can’t wait to go.

This is exciting. New Orleans architecture/design company Bildit looks like it’s putting up some wonderful new homes in the Big Easy.
Dawn and I are due for another of our ‘every 5 years’ trips to New Orleans this year and plan to take Little Man. Hopefully I’ll be able to see some of their designs in person this October.

IKEA is now in the prefab business.
Unfortunately it’s not currently in the US. Only Scandinavia, and the UK. Well, hopefully it will come here soon, I would love to see new developments all built this way, and IKEA has the ability to bring good design to the masses with their prices.
